The work that I do.
I have over 18 years of experience working with AWS. Currently studying for Solutions Architect. I have designed a broad range of services on AWS, from IoT, data storage, web services, data processing and security, all tailored to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
I've worked with companies ranging from multimillion-pound enterprises to agile startups keeping focus on their budgets with scalability and the goals of the business.
Good architecture defines the culture, cost, and trajectory of a product. I have designed software services for diverse applicationsfrom low-latency, high-frequency systems to handling massive volumes of data.
Successful products need to balance the goals of the business, timeframes and future risks. Designing adaptability and performance into a product allows a product to be run cheaply and maintains business agility when requirements change.
I am able to develop your application, either all of the way or part of the way, to hand over to a finishing team. I have expertise in C#, Python and C++. I can help design and build your application through to its release.
For over 15 years I have been building and designing systems to extract data from the internet at scale. My experience includes creating systems for compliance monitoring, low-latency transport solutions for financial and news institutions, and data collection pipelines for analysis.
With decades of experience across industries and projects, I can provide high-level advice and strategic insights for your initiatives. Whether you need a second opinion on your architecture, guidance on navigating technical challenges, or simply someone to brainstorm with over coffee, Im here to help.
The truth is, my skillset is quite broad but out of respect for my clients much of the work I have done is under NDA so I can't share details. However, I can say I've built a prototype robot lawnmower, developed an SMTP proxy to intercept and relay emails as they where being received, helped migrate about 200 small applications that ran at specific times to collect economic data for traders to AWS. I also developed an implementation of the handicap system for The Social Golfer (despite never actually playing golf) and a privacy focused version of Zoom using WebRTC. These along with the products I've built. represent a small fraction of the projects I have worked on.
When I am not working, I am working to help preserve England's railway heritage by volunteering at the Colne Valley Railway in Essex. I work as a member of the CVR Wagon Group. The group I work with owns a wagon that helped bring aviation fuel to the airfields during WW2.
